About Jacqueline

Jacqueline F Gribbin is a British/Australian printmaking artist who has lived in the Northern Territory, Australia since 2007. She currently divides her time between Australia and the UK.

After graduating with a B.A. (Hons) Fine Art (Printmaking) in the UK, she moved to Tokyo, Japan where she trained as a Printer, specialising in intaglio, and where she lived for 11 years.

In 2005 she was invited to be Printer-in-Residence at Singapore Tyler Print Institute (STPI) and then became Senior Printer (2006-2007), collaborating predominantly with artists from south-east Asia.

Moving to Darwin, Australia, Jacqueline travelled extensively to remote First Nation communities in the N.T., W.A. and QLD delivering printmaking workshops and working with leading contemporary First Nation artists in her role as Workshop Manager and as master printer at Northern Editions Printmaking Studio, Charles Darwin University. Over the years she has continued to travel to Asia to deliver independent printmaking projects as well as deliver workshops in remote First Nation communities and also within her local area.

In 2012, she was invited under a grant from the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs to be Artist-in-Residence at Mi-Lab Mokuhanga program in Japan.

In 2020, she was invited by Australian Parliament House to have her works projected onto the facade of Parliament House as part of Canberra Enlighten Festival. In 2022, she exhibited Shifting Tides, a series of woodblock prints (mokuhanga) about Darwin Harbour, at the Northern Territory Library, Parliament House.

In 2022, she was invited to present a joint paper Making Ink from Fire and exhibit the associated works, at IMPACT 12 multidisciplinary printmaking conference, at the University of West England, Bristol, England.

She has exhibited her work in Australia, England, New Zealand, China, Japan, Thailand and the USA.

Jacqueline is on the Board of the International Mokuhanga Association, which organises the triennial International Mokuhanga Conference. She is the Northern Territory representative for the Committee of the Print Council of Australia.
